  SENATOR THE HON KATY GALLAGHER
MINISTER FOR FINANCE
MINISTER FOR WOMEN
MINISTER FOR THE PUBLIC SERVICE
SENATOR FOR THE ACT

AUSTRALIAN DELEGATION TO THE UNITED NATIONS COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN

The Minister for Women, Senator the Hon Katy Gallagher, will travel to New York to lead Australia’s delegation to the 68th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).

The Commission is the premier global forum on gender policy issues and is instrumental in promoting women’s rights and shaping global standards on gender equality.

Minister for Women, Senator the Hon Katy Gallagher, says she is proud to be promoting Australia’s commitment to gender equality.

“Gender equality is at the heart of the Albanese Government’s vision for a better future, and this week I released Australia’s first national strategy to achieve gender equality.”

“It’s crucial that Australia has a seat at the table of international forums to help create long-lasting change for women and girls not just in Australia, but worldwide.”

Australia’s official delegation includes:

  • Minister for Women, Senator the Hon Katy Gallagher
  • Natasha Stott Despoja AO, Member of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women
  • The Hon Mary Wooldridge, Chief Executive Officer, Workplace Gender Equality Agency
  • Dr Anna Cody, Sex Discrimination Commissioner
  • Padma Raman PSM, Executive Director, Office for Women, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet
  • Stephanie Copus-Campbell AM, Ambassador for Gender Equality, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
  • Joslyn Eades-Tass, civil society delegate and Chair, National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Alliance
  • Khayshie Tilak Ramesh, civil society delegate, non-executive Director of YWCA Australia and former Victorian Multicultural Youth Commissioner

The priority theme for Commission this year is accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective.

Minister Gallagher will attend CSW from 11 to 13 March.
